Business Lessons From Hollywood
Product Details
"I moved to Los Angeles to break into the music business. Seven years later I succeeded. In the process I discovered how Hollywood operates. These are the strategies I still apply today." The first book in the "Business Lessons" series, this title is about doing business Hollywood-style, anywhere in the world, in any industry. The author recounts his adventures in the film and music industry and distills from them over seventy unexpected business lessons that are easy to apply in any field. Stories in the book include business meetings with Hollywood stars, why celebrities fly in private jets, how a Canadian rock group got thrown out of a celebrity party, how a singer blew hundreds of thousands of dollars in a matter of weeks, and what we all can learn from them. Readers get honest first-hand insight into the most fascinating industry of the world, translated into useful business lessons that work in any career. Some of the lessons show how successful people in Hollywood made it. Others describe what to avoid, based on direct observations of the author of those in his circle who fell from grace. The business lessons are far from general or based on movie quotes, they come directly from the battlefield. Not glamorous or self-aggrandizing, but rooted in the real world of entrepreneurship. This book is easy to read for business reference, fresh ideas, or on a plane. Even though it is entertaining, readers learn about new angles to deal with situations and challenges in their work and their business.

Atom Alex Helling is an entrepreneur, traveler and observer with an unconventional story. He founded companies in Europe, America and Asia, wrote film scores with the best and pop songs for the worst. While living in Los Angeles, he struck a seven-figure deal with a major record label, won several songwriting competitions, and produced a documentary about Japanese manga and anime. Then he moved to Tokyo where he started another venture and lived through a 9.0 earthquake. He is still a songwriter and movie enthusiast. And he is also writing about all of the above.
