Jazz, Then and Now: The History of Jazz
Product Details
Jazz, Then and Now is the history of jazz that started with the black musicians of the south playing their instruments in saloons, whore houses, parades and dance halls. It all began in New Orleans with a popular trumpeter Louis Armstrong taking the lead in the developing of jazz. It then grew in other cities, Kansas City, Chicago, St. Louis and New York. Other prominant musicians also having an influence in jazz were Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Charlie Parker, and Miles Davis. Today we have many versions and styles of jazz all of them fully described in the book.
