Description

3 if by air is the blending of be-bop, latin jazz, new age, and classical. Featured on the album are Brandon Fields on sax, Walt Fowler on trumpet and fluglehorn, and John Pena on bass. These eleven original compositions contain intricate tonal narrative, with complex rhythms and harmonies supporting adventurous soloing. This album represents a new hybrid of jazz fusion: Funky Chamber Music.

Testimonials
"Jon Hartmann and I have been friends since our college years at U.C.L.A., where he was kind enough to take me under his wing and guide me to the best sources. In addition to his talents as a pianist, Jon has always had tremendous compositional gifts, and finally "3 if by air" gives us all a chance to sample them." -Steve Khan, N.Y.C. 1999

..."This is the essence of funk with a latin flavor... a great work of instrumental jazz fusion..." -Ricardo Camarena, La Opinion
