Description

Avand Guard was written, performed, and recorded by Mike Kondol over the course of 1999. He chose these songs to be on the CD because each song represents something about people like 'Monopolist" referring to a one sided love affair, to a song about a girl who touched sunshine, which he called "Avand Guard". Several people have indicated that this CD sounds similar to a Bob Dylan crossed with Paul Westerburg. Kondol has worked hard at being an individual, however his influences are obvious. If you like Neil Young, or the Replacements, give this CD a listen.

Artist Profile
Mike Kondol started playing guitar at the age of 11 back in the late '70's. He was playing in the bars around the Lakewood area at the same time Robert Cray was gaining his following. Both their dada were stationed at Fort Lewis. Kondol started college in Tacoma at UPS. Punk was the main game at that time. He played in a punk band called the "Smoldering Remains" with some guys from Minneapolis MN. Some interest was expressed by Twin Tone, but went no-where. The "Smoldering Remains" broke up shortly afterward. He moved to Seattle to finish a graduate degree in psychology. The music back in the early '90's exploded. He met Scott McCaughy (REM) at Cellophane Records at the U district selling used records. He got Kondol to start working on his material with a Tascam 4 track in the early 80's. Kondol worked in and out of several local studios and put together demos. "Avand Guard" is his first CD.
